About Fowler, NY

The Town of Fowler began in 1816 and was named for Theodosius Fowler, (1753-1841) a local landowner, who had served as a Captain in the American Revolution.

Fowler is located in southwest St. Lawrence County and borders the towns of Rossie, Gouverneur, Hermon, Edwards, Pitcairn, and Antwerp.

The Oswegatchie River's main and west branches flow through Fowler with scenic portages. The town is a beautiful setting for the Gouverneur Country Club and home to the Sylvia Lake community.

​The Town of Fowler Assessor's Office is open weekly from 9-1 on Tuesdays. Appointments to see an assessor are available six days a week for the day and early evening appointments. We will be happy to assist you.

The Town of Fowler is looking to hire two CDL drivers for a permanent position. This position is for a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Highway Department. The candidates selected for these positions will have the duties of operating Heavy

Equipment on the road crew and any other jobs the Highway Superintendent or his deputy deems need to be accomplished. This is a 40-hour a 40-hour-a-week Teamster Union position with benefits after 6 months, including single health insurance.

To be qualified for this position, the applicant must be 18 years old, dependable, have a good work ethic, and have a valid driver's license. Preference will be given to Class A or B Operators with no Restrictions and Diesel Mechanical Abilities. The right candidate will be trained. Pay will be based on experience. Applications must be picked up at the Fowler Town Clerks Office and returned by June 27th, 2024, at 4 PM.
