About Fowler, NY

The Town of Fowler began in 1816 and was named for Theodosius Fowler, (1753-1841) a local landowner, who had served as a Captain in the American Revolution.

​

Fowler is located in southwest St. Lawrence County and borders the towns of Rossie, Gouverneur, Hermon, Edwards, Pitcairn, and Antwerp.

​

The Oswegatchie River's main and west branches flow through Fowler with scenic portages. The town is a beautiful setting for the Gouverneur Country Club and home to the Sylvia Lake community.

  • Stone Road, from the bus turn around to the Orebed Road.

  • Sibley Road, from the bus turn around to State land.

  • Fire Falls Road, from Luke Gates home to the Town of Fowler Line.

  • Lamb Road, from the Country Club Road to the Town of Fowler Line.

  • Shantyville Road, from the Besaw farm to the plow turn around on the Byrns Road end (the Corral).

Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.
