Highway Department Heavy Equipment Operator Wanted

The Town of Fowler has an opening for a permanent Heavy Equipment Operator in the Highway Department. Duties include the operating of Heavy Equipment on the road crew and various other jobs required by the Highway Superintendent or the Deputy Highway Superintendent. It is a 40-hour-a-week Teamster Union position with single health insurance coverage after six (6) months of employment.  

 

Qualifications for this position:

  • applicant must be 18 years of age or older to apply,

  • have a valid driver’s license,

  • be dependable,

  • and have a good work ethic.

Preference will be given to Class A or B Operators with no Restrictions and Diesel Mechanical Abilities. Necessary training will be done on-site. Pay will be based on experience. Applications must be picked up at the Fowler Town Clerk's Office and returned by December 26, 2023, at 4 PM.

Town of Fowler Declares Seasonal Roads
December 1, 2023 to April 1, 2024
  • Stone Road, from the bus turn around to the Orebed Road.

  • Sibley Road, from the bus turn around to State land.

  • Fire Falls Road, from Luke Gates home to the Town of Fowler Line.

  • Lamb Road, from the Country Club Road to the Town of Fowler Line.

  • Shantyville Road, from the Besaw farm to the plow turn around on the Byrns Road end (the Corral).

The Town of Fowler will begin paving on August 21, 2023, beginning on Whitford Road at 7 AM and continuing to East Street, Sibley Road, and Shantyville. That will be all binder; we hope to complete that on Monday. Tuesday will be the Top for those roads with the addition of the Glasby Road. Please be careful if you must travel in these areas. Expect delays and road closures. Our guys will get you through as soon as we can.

The Town of Fowler Assessor’s Office is open each week from 9-1 on Tuesdays.  Appointments to see an assessor are available 6 days a week for day and early evening appointments.  If a resident has a question, problem, or concern, you are encouraged to make an appointment.  We will be happy to assist you.

Broadband Assessment

 The Public Service Commission invites public comment regarding the Broadband Assessment Program to study the availability, affordability, and adoption of residential and commercial broadband internet access across New York State. The purpose of the study is to help determine what steps are needed to ensure that all of New York's consumers have access to the internet, as needed.

To ensure full public participation, the Commission will hold a series of virtual public statement hearings from February 23 to March 3, 2022, to solicit input and comments from your community. Any participant not able to register or login to the hearing electronically may participate by phone.

Any person wishing to provide a public statement at the hearings must pre-register by 5:00 p.m. the day before the hearing they wish to attend.

PUBLIC HEARINGS — TOWN OF FOWLER — MARCH 13, 2023   

    

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Fowler will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the Fowler Town Hall, 87 Little York Rd, Gouverneur, NY for the purpose of hearing public input regarding the proposed adoption and acceptance of the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update, that has recently been adopted by St. Lawrence County.

New York State requires a signed resolution from within each district showing they adopt the plan for said jurisdiction. The Town of Fowler, as a participating jurisdiction, will have the proposed resolution on the agenda for the March 13, 2023 board meeting. The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for the Town of Fowler may be viewed on this website HERE, or may be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours.

Town of Fowler Planning Board Meeting
 

There will be a Planning Board Meeting on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 5:00 PM in the upstairs of the Fowler Town Hall for discussion on a variance application from applicant Joshua Hayden for the property at 19B West Shore Road & discussion on a Sub-division request application from Edelweiss Holding Company to divide the property into three lots for re-sale on the Sands Road. All interested persons are invited to attend.
